Catherine M. Matherne, 78, a native and resident of Des Allemands, LA, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
Catherine is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years, Douglas Matherne; sons, Greg Matherne (Angela), and Gary Matherne (Angela); daughter, Frances Matherne (Troy); brother, Audie Matherne (Denise); grandchildren, Ashli Brewer (Rhett), Abbie Matherne (Andre), Wyatt Matherne, Karlie Heckendorn (David), Emilie Champagne (J.P.), and Trevor Matherne; as well as six great-grandchildren.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Lester J. Matherne and Alice Danos Matherne.
Catherine loved to balance adventure and quiet time. She loved to spend time with family and play games; in particular, games of chance! Vacations were always something special whether spending time taking in the scenery of the mountains, fall colors or flowing waterfalls. Or joining her children and grandchildren at theme parks and riding roller coasters. When home she loved to have the family over to play Mexican Train, Tripoli, Gin Rummy or at times just to have help putting together a puzzle. During short trips she absolutely loved visiting various casinos. Many times to enjoy a nice dinner out, but mostly to partake in the gaming! She certainly touched so many lives and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21 from 10:00 am until service time at 12:00 pm at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Paradis, LA. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM, with a graveside service to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Des Allemands.
