Catherine Than Nguyen, of Newtown Square, PA, a beloved matriarch and skilled seamstress, passed away on May 19, 2025 at the age of 78.
Born in the vibrant city of Saigon, Vietnam, she was the daughter of the late Tu Van Nguyen and Nhuan Thi Ta.
Following the passing of her father, she took on the mantle of caretaker for her siblings, embodying a strength that would become her hallmark. She cared for and nurtured her loved ones. After her retirement, she again took on the mantle as she cared for and nurtured her grandchildren. With her extraordinary skill in cooking, she turned every meal into an act of care and connection and brought comfort, joy, and unforgettable memories to all.
After immigrating to the United States in 1975, Catherine embraced her new life with courage and determination. She resumed her work as a skilled seamstress in the clothing industry, bringing creativity and precision to her craft.
Catherine was the beloved wife of Paul Quy Nguyen, who shared 57 treasured years together; the loving mother of Vu Phong Nguyen, Phong Quoc Nguyen (Janice), Jasmine Trang Thuy Kain, Trinh Tu Chau (Van), and Tram Thanh Ng (James). She was the devoted grandmother of Abigail Nguyen, Cameron Nguyen, Alexandria Kain, Lilianna Kain, Jack Kain, Isabelle Chau, Emma Chau, Aidan Chau, William Ng, and Genevieve Ng. She was the caring sister of Anne Tam Nguyen (the late Stephen), Dang Nguyen (Ken), Michael Nguyen (Man), and An Cong Nguyen. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.
