Catherine Alice Nopper (Lowther) was born on April 3, 1931, in Akron, Ohio. She was raised in a large and loving family and was one of twelve siblings: Mercida, Betty Jean, Donna Mae, Mary Jane, Jeanne, Earl, Shirley, Patty, Camille, Earleen, Carol, and Terry. Growing up in such a close-knit household shaped her lifelong devotion to family and caring for others. She married her late husband Jacob “Jake” Nopper in 1957. She is survived by her three children, Cathy (Richard), John (Pam), and Jennifer.

Throughout her life, Catherine worked locally, but her true life’s work was centered in her home. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising her children and nurturing her family. She was a loving mother to her three children, Cathy, John, and Jennifer, and she took great pride in being a grandmother to her five grandchildren, cherishing time spent watching her family grow.

Catherine was known for her quiet strength, steady presence, and deep sense of responsibility toward those she loved. She valued togetherness and found her greatest happiness in family gatherings, conversations, and shared moments both big and small. Her home was a place of warmth, care, and unconditional love.

In her quieter moments, Catherine found comfort and companionship in her beloved pet cats, whom she cared for with great affection. Her gentle nature and nurturing spirit were evident in the way she treated both people and animals alike.

Catherine will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her legacy lives on through her family, who will continue to honor her memory through the love, values, and traditions she passed down. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday, December 30th from 10 to 11am at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Graveside service will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
