Catherine Ann Preble, 59, passed away peacefully at her home in Springfield, Vermont on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. She was born on May 17, 1966, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont.

Catherine earned her bachelor's degree in Music from Boston University, a passion she shared throughout her life. She performed alongside her mother and sister in their family group, Caebry, bringing music and joy to renaissance fairs and events across the country.

For many years, Catherine worked as the night supervisor at Black River Produce in Springfield, where her steady presence, sharp mind, and kindness made her deeply respected by colleagues.

She married her husband, Brian Preble, and together they spent 33 years building a life filled with adventure, creativity, and unwavering companionship.

Catherine was an accomplished musician, a gifted chef, an avid crocheter of stuffed animals and friendly monsters, and someone whose wisdom and generosity touched everyone she met. She had a rare ability to make strangers feel like friends, and during her final year she devoted herself to comforting a neighbor who was also undergoing cancer treatment-an example of her boundless empathy.

She is survived by her husband, Brian; her brother, Jamie MacFarlane; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Sharon Ann Wry, and her sister, Wryanne Zwolenski.

A celebration of Catherine's life will be held in the spring.
