Stephen J Preble, born November 28, 1950, died on January 19, 2026, in Rutland, VT at Rutland Center for Living and Rehabilitation. He was the son of James and Virginia Preble (Duvall).
Steve’s greatest passion was music. He searched the world on his computer for new sources of his beloved Jazz. As a teen, he piloted gliders and manned his HAM radio. He spent many summers flyfishing the lakes and streams of Vermont. He always loved joking around with his family, friends and acquaintances, a trait he picked up from his father.
He was married to Marcella Preble who predeceased him in 2015. He leaves behind his sister Susan Sheldon (Preble) of South Burlington, VT and her husband Donald Sheldon, as well as Marcella’s adult children and their families.
