Dawn Ann Medwid

Dawn Ann (Vilinskas) Medwid passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side on Sunday, March 15th, 2026.

She was born on December 10th,1962, to Leon and Jean (Kareiva) Vilinskas, and grew up in Windsor also for a short time in San Franscisco, CA. She attended Poquonock Elementary, Sage Park Junior High and graduated in 1980 from Windsor High School where she was also recognized by the National Honor Society. She went to the Computer Process Institute, taking these skills learned to employment at Aetna Insurance for several years. During the time Dawn was raising a family, she spent many years volunteering while her kids were in grade school at the Suffield Public School Libraries.

As a young girl, Dawn enjoyed living on the family farm in Windsor, where she developed a love for horses. Dawn was also an avid gardener, enjoyed reading and loved drawing. In 1986, she married Stephen Medwid and moved to West Suffield to start her family.

Dawn was a devoted and loving mother of two boys. She volunteered within the school system regularly to be close to them. She also spent time volunteering at a local horse farm, Vining Hill Equestrian Center, in Southwick MA. She was an avid water and snow skier, had a fond love for their dog Sampson and spent much of her adult life with her family at their lake house in New Hampshire.

Dawn in survived by her Husband Stephen Medwid; two sons, Stephen Medwid Jr and his partner Brianna O'Hara of Springfield, MA, and Keith Medwid of Philadelphia, PA; brother, Mark and wife Toni Vilinskas of Lodi, CA; nephew and niece Ross Vilinskas of Lodi, CA and Chelsea Vilinskas of Vallejo, CA; aunt, Julie Vilinskas, and uncle, Peter Vilinskas of Farmington, CT; Her sister-in-law's, Karen Stewart of Ukiah, CA and Kathy DePree of The Villages, FL; brother-in-law, Joeseph Medwid of Lynn, MA; nieces and nephew-in-laws Rob Stewart of Chico, CA, Bethany Chaney of Ukiah, CA, Carrie DePree of North Fort Meyers, Florida and many extended family members. Predeceased by both parents, Leon and Jean Vilinskas and a very special friend, Lynn D. Lauridsen.

Dawn will be missed by her loving family and will live in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.

Interment will be private and a Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
