Catherine "Cathy" Anne Steinbauer, of Woodstock, IL passed away on December 30,2024. Cathy was born on March 9, 1942, in Detroit Michigan to parents Edwin and Jeanette Schneider
Growing up Cathy had a love for learning, she graduated cum laude from the University of Detroit with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, complemented by a minor in English. She was did secretarial work at Catholic schools and parishes. Cathy married the love of her life Thomas Steinbauer on July 10, 1965. They created a beautiful life together, and raised a wonderful family.
Cathy's heart was most abundantly filled with affection for her family, particularly her adoring grandchildren. They brought joy to her days, and her greatest treasure was the time spent creating lasting memories with them. Among the highlights of her life was a memorable family vacation to Disney World, which was followed by a delightful Disney Cruise, an adventure that was very special to her.
Her personality radiated warmth, reflected in her love for various crafts such as knitting, cross-stitching, quilting, and sewing. These creative pursuits were but a few of the ways Catherine expressed her affection for those around her. Her culinary talents shone brightly in her kitchen, where she dedicated herself to cooking and baking, often delighting family members with dinners and good company. Cathy never missed an opportunity to take a good nap after!
Catherine took great pride in her family - her devotion as a wife, mother, and grandmother was unwavering and profound. Cathy leaves behind her husband, Tom Steinbauer, children Annemarie (Mark) Scott, Tom Steinbauer, Robert (Jena) Steinbauer, Jeanne (Rob) Salazar, Grandchildren; Matthew (Ellie) Maksimoski, Alyse Maksimoski, Nicholas Maksimoski, Brianna Steinbauer, Sarah Noelani Steinbauer, Alexander Keanu Steinbauer, Mackenzie Salazar, Addison Salazar and Kaleigh Salazar, as well as Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Jeanette Schneider, and siblings, Mary Frances (Joseph) Hess, Doris Haskins, and James Schneider.
