Catherine Julie Stensland

Catherine Julie Stensland, affectionately known as Kate, passed away on January 26, 2025, in South Hero, Vermont. Born in New York City on February 3, 1949, Kate lived a life filled with passion and artistry.
For over 42 years, Kate was the devoted wife of the late Ola Stensland. Kate and Ola met in New York City and began their life together in Cape Cod. From there, they ventured to Los Angeles, California, eventually settling in Beverly Hills, where they built their home. They enjoyed traveling, often embarking on cross-country road trips, creating a wealth of cherished memories along the way. Kate pursued her dreams of acting with unwavering dedication. A testament to her commitment, she studied with the renowned Lee Strasberg before venturing to Hollywood. Her talent graced the silver screen in numerous notable films.
Kate was a loving and cherished mother to Athena Stensland Ashburn. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Sienna Ashburn, Giuliano Bologna, who brought immense joy to her life and her loving son-in-law Matthew Ashburn. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Nikitas.
The family will honor Kate's memory with a memorial service at Saint Sofia's Cathedral in Los Angeles, CA. When winter passes, Kate and Ola's ashes will be joined together and scattered in the ocean off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, the place where their journey as husband and wife began.
