Catherine "Cathy" Wolff was born on May 27,1944 to Raymond and Lillian Gogan. She passed away surrounded by loved ones in her daughter's home on May 24th, 2024 (3 days shy of her 80th birthday). She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis, her son, Timothy, and her brothers Pat, Walt, Dick, and Mike Gogan. She is survived by her sister Elizbeth Lee, her daughters Margaret (Cletis) Fisher and Shirley (Dan) Daniel. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Karen, and her grandsons Timothy, William Daniel, and James (Sara) Wolff, and her granddaughters, Reaca Hernandez and Melissa Fisher, and great-granddaughter Layla Fisher.
Cathy was born and raised in Puyallup. She attended Collins Elementary and graduated from Franklin Pierce High School in 1962. After high school she went to Bates Vocational School to pursue nursing.
She met Louie while still in high school and they wed in 1964. Eventually they moved into a house on Canyon Road, close to Louie's family, where they began raising their 3 children. Unfortunately, they divorced in 1973.
Cathy married Dennis Forbes in 1975 and moved to Seattle. When she lived in Seattle, she had 3 stepdaughters, Denise, Tiffany, and Jacy. She worked in a seafood packing plant, cleaned houses, and worked as a nurse.
In 1980, she divorced Dennis and moved back to Puyallup with her children. Shortly after her move back to Puyallup, she joined AA. She was very proud for maintaining her sobriety for over 40 years.
Even though Cathy moved back to Puyallup without a job, she always found a way to make ends meet. So, she worked cleaning apartments until she started working as a hospice nurse. When her mother had cancer, Cathy and her sister took care of their mom after working all day. After her mother passed, Cathy got a job at American Lake VA Hospital as a nurse. She injured her back in the 80's and was retrained to work as a dispatcher for the American Lake Police Department, and then as a medical coder. She finally retired in 1996.
In 1988, Louie and Cathy rekindled their love and remarried. Cathy loved being a mom and raising her children, but she really loved being a grandmother. Cathy enjoyed working in the yard, playing with the grandkids, doing crafts, and spending time with family. She was a member of TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) for many years. In the last weeks, her doctor told her she could have as much ice cream as she wanted. This brought a big smile to her face.
She had a strong relationship with her Lord Jesus and that relationship helped her through many difficult times in life.
A memorial will be held in her honor on Thursday, June 13th at 1:00 pm at Our Savior Lutheran Church (4519 112th St E Tacoma, WA).
