Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels - SouthCatherine C. Word, affectionately known as Betty Boop, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on March 17, 1958, Catherine was a vibrant presence in the Denver Heights community, where she was celebrated for her outgoing nature and her unwavering helpfulness. She had an infectious spirit that lit up any room, and her loving demeanor made her the life of every gathering.
Catherine's legacy of love and laughter will live on through her children, Larry, Veronica, Juan, Vincent, Luis, Minnie, and Thelma, as well as her numerous grandchildren who were a source of joy and pride for her. She is also survived by her beloved brother, Ruben, and sister, Naomi, who cherished her deeply, along with her aunt, Irene, who shared in the warmth of her spirit.
Catherine was preceded in death by her mother, Brunilda Guerra, who was undoubtedly a guiding light in her life, and her cherished son, David, whose memory remained dear to her heart.
Her presence in the lives of those who knew and loved her will be profoundly missed. A remarkable woman, Catherine C. Word leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and a community that will forever remember her as an extraordinary individual who brought happiness to all around her.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church with a burial to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Date and Time Pending
