With deep sorrow and abiding love, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Cathryn Louise Allen (Meneely) who departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Born on February 20, 1950, Cathy lived a life marked by resilience, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Allen Jr., and her cherished partner, John Scott, whose memories she carried tenderly in her heart. She is survived by her four children, each a reflection of her strength and spirit: Sandra Allen-Dansby and her husband, Frederic, of Virginia; Angela Schaeffer, of Virginia; Donald H. Allen III and his wife, Andrea, of Texas; and Jacqueline Browning and her husband, Morgan, of New Jersey. Her legacy continues through her twelve grandchildren: Ashley, Brianna, Cathryn, Joseph, Nyla, Ben, Amara, Anisa, Donald IV, Zaylina, and Celeste, and one grandchild soon to arrive. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, John and Joseph, who brought her immense joy. She is survived by her brother Doug Meneely, wife Carolyn, of Illinois and mother-in-law Anna Allen, of Maryland. She will be remembered for her indomitable strength, her boundless creativity, and the way she navigated life's joys and challenges. A gifted cook, her spaghetti sauce was legendary. Always rich with flavor and made with love, it brought comfort and connection to countless family meals. She found joy in the great outdoors, whether camping beneath the stars or quietly watching birds in the trees, always attuned to the beauty and peace of nature. Her legacy lives on in the resilience of her children and the vibrant curiosity of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her honor, a tree will be planted at Red Wing Park, a living tribute to her love of nature and enduring presence. A butterfly release will accompany the dedication, symbolizing the transformation and free spirit she embodied. A celebration of her life will be held in a private family gathering where family will honor her legacy and share in the stories that made her unforgettable. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation towards your local national park or garden in her honor.
