Cathryn Cooper, age 88 of Gatesville, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2024 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Minister Deral McWhorter officiating. Interment will follow at Levita Cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Cathryn Lavina Cooper was born February 3, 1936 to the late John and Clovie White Cudd in Henrietta, Texas. She grew up and attended school in Blum, Texas, graduating from Blum High School in 1954. After graduation, she attended Texas Women’s College in Denton. On December 22, 1957, she married the love of her life, J.B. Cooper in Rio Vista, Texas. They lived in Kentucky briefly before making their home in Gatesville. Cathryn was a homemaker, raising three boys and making sure that her family was well cared for. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, camping with family and friends, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Live Oak Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, and played piano during Sunday School. Cathryn was a simple but humble woman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 66 years, J.B. Cooper; sons, Larry and David Cooper; brothers, John and Kenneth Cudd; and great grandson, Daniel Cooper.
Cathryn is survived by her son, Michael Cooper and wife, Theresa; brother, Lloyd Cudd; “daughters”, Paula Vincent and husband Jay, Vickie Shaeffer and husband, Leslie, Deanna Pauley and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Justin Cooper, Virginia Rhymes, Rachel Anderson, Jacob Cooper, Kinzie Cooper, Trista Suttles, Paige Butcher and husband, Jeff, and April Blancett; and numerous great grandchildren.
