Cathryn Currie Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 7, 2025.
Cathryn R. Currie, a beacon of joy and spirited grace, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at the age of 91 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Born on August 21, 1934, in Highland Park, Michigan, Cathryn's life was a tapestry of love, service, and community involvement that touched many hearts.
Cathryn's early years in Highland Park laid the foundation for a life characterized by a strong work ethic and a deep commitment to her faith. Her career at Southern Bell was marked by dedication and excellence, and she carried these traits into every aspect of her life. Cathryn's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her existence, and she was a devoted member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, where she found great solace and community.
Family was the center of Cathryn's world. She was a loving mother to Katherine Bensing and Sean Patrick Murphy. She was also a cherished grandmother to Steven, Geoffrey, Jonathan and his wife Sherri Aldred, and Cassandra Comardo. Cathryn's joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren Joshua, Ashlee, Morgan, Madison, Abigail, Amelia, Tiberius, Raina, and Iris, and she was blessed to see the birth of five great-great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and she nurtured each relationship with care and affection. Cathryn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Currie, and her son, Steven Allen, both of whom she remembered with love and reverence.
Cathryn's zest for life was evident in her active participation in her community at Kings Isle. She was a vibrant member of the chorus, tap dancing, and drama club, sharing her talents and enthusiasm with all. Her love for Christmas was legendary, and she infused the holiday season with warmth and cheer, creating lasting memories for her family and friends.
Those who knew Cathryn would describe her as thoughtful, spirited, and interesting. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel special and valued. Her conversations were filled with wisdom and wit, and her presence was a source of comfort and inspiration. Cathryn's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the joy of living a life full of purpose and passion.
As we bid farewell to Cathryn R. Currie, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and the countless lives she touched. Cathryn's journey on earth may have concluded, but her story will be told for generations to come, as an example of a life well-lived and a woman well-loved.
