Cathy L. Kauffman

Cathy L. Kauffman, 77, of Swatara Township, passed away on Thursday August 21, 2025 in the comfort of her home.

Born November 21, 1947, in South Gate, CA, she was the daughter of the late James and Miriam (Sergott) Chadwick. On August 10, 1975, Cathy was married to Ronald A. Kauffman, with whom she has shared a union of 50 years.

Initially working as a teacher's aide for the Department of Defense Schools, Kathy devoted herself to a career in working with children. After settling in the Harrisburg area, she earned her Associates degree from Harrisburg Area Community College and was employed by the Dauphin County Department of Children and Youth Services and later by the Middletown School District until her retirement.

Cathy had a passion for travel and exploration that created a tapestry of memories stretching across continents and cultures. Cathy's adventurous spirit embraced the vibrant cultures of the Republic of the Philippines for four years and Germany for three years - she enjoyed countless bus trips across the island and Europe. Later, Cathy and Ron found a home on the open road - their RV took them from the majestic geysers of Yellowstone National Park to the many hidden gems scattered across the United States.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Ron; daughter, Kelly Raubenstine of Highspire; sons, Kevin (Jessica) Kauffman of Middletown and Mark (Michele) Kauffman of Newport, CA; and seven grandchildren, Kayla, Raina, Ava, Isabella, Olivia, Allison and Alexus. She is also survived by her brother Tom Beasley of Long Beach, CA. In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Chadwick.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon on Friday September 5, 2025 at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry Street, Harrisburg, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Drew Tanguay as Celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
