Alice Kauffman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. - Charlotte Hall on Aug. 26, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

On August 25, 2025, Alice Bertha Kauffman, 90, of Benedict, MD, went home to be with her loving God. Alice was born in Baltimore, MD, on March 17, 1935, to the late "Cullins" and Jessie Hill.

Alice was raised in St. Mary's County, MD. She met the love of her life, Lloyd B. Kauffman, Sr., and on April 11, 1955, they were married at Sacred Heart Church in Bushwood, MD. Together, they raised four children in Prince George's County, MD.

Alice dedicated over 35 years of her career to Geico Insurance before retiring and settling in Benedict. After losing her husband 29 years ago, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to her parish. Alice expressed her love through the art of cooking, frequently preparing and baking delightful treats to share with everyone!

Alice leaves behind her 4 children: Donna Grusholt (Willy) of Mechanicsville, MD, Lloyd Kauffman, Jr. (Mary) of Mechanicsville, MD, Linda Green (Bob) of Clements, MD, and Wayne Kauffman (Kristy) of New Port Richie, FL. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Lee Murphy from Benedict, MD, and her brother-in-law, Frank Kauffman of Glen Burnie, MD. Alice "Nannie" leaves behind seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband, brothers Joseph Hill, Jr., Sammy Hill, Johnny Hill, Sr., and Sister Betty Ann Reed.

To describe Alice in short is an impossible feat. She was everything to all who knew and loved her.

On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the family will receive friends for the visitation starting at 5:00 pm, and prayers beginning at 7:00 pm at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD. A funeral service will be held the next day at 10:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 7185 Benedict Ave, Benedict, MD 20612. Interment will follow after the service at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Rd, Clinton, MD 20735.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

Condolences may be made to the family at www.brinsfieldfuneral.com.
