Cathy Lyn Lynn, a beacon of resilience and joy, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, in
Fort Walton Beach, Florida, at the age of 69. Born on May 23, 1956, in Riverside, California, Cathy was the cherished daughter of Anne and Bill Whitford. Her life was a testament to the power of positivity and the strength of the human spirit.
Cathy's journey was marked by her unwavering determination to overcome adversity. As a baby, she faced the challenges of polio, yet she never allowed her disability to define her. Instead, she channeled her experiences into a life filled with love, laughter, and the pursuit of happiness. Cathy's legacy is one of courage and grace, inspiring all who knew her to embrace life's moments with a smile.
For nearly five decades, Cathy called Fort Walton Beach her home. She dedicated over 25 years of service to Eglin Air Force Base as a Computer Administrator/Purchasing, where her expertise and commitment were highly valued. Her colleagues remember her as a reliable and skilled professional, whose presence brightened the workplace.
Family was the cornerstone of Cathy's world. She was preceded in death by her beloved Michael R. Maloney, her guiding light and partner in life's adventures. Her lineage includes her cherished grandparents, Edna and Hubert Whitford, Joseph Brown, and Vance Moon; her devoted parents, Bill Whitford and Anne Hicks; her loving sister, Cynthia Huggins; her brother, Robert Whitford; and her treasured daughter, Shawn Bartlett. Cathy's memory will be forever held in the hearts of her son, Kevin Lynn; her daughter, Dana Coatney (Mike); her Pop Cleveland Hicks (Becky); her aunts, Velda Kelley and Nancy Whitford; her grandchildren, Kaleb Lynn, Alycia Lynn, Haley Dixon (Trent), and David Morris; and her great-grandchildren, Isaiah Morris, Zion James Dixon, and Jessie Dixon. Her sister, Debbie Sims (Buck); her brother, CJ Hicks (Sherri); and numerous nieces and nephews will also cherish the love and lessons she imparted.
Cathy's spirit was gentle, and her love knew no bounds. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from the thrill of travel to the delight of a good shopping spree. Her passion for Mickey Mouse was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of her youthful heart and the magic she saw in the world. Cathy's presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her kindness was a gentle reminder to treat others with compassion.
