Cay Van De Voort, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, at the age of 82 in Lakeland, Florida. Born in Columbus, Indiana, on May 23, 1943, she was the cherished daughter of L. Orden and Beulah Craig. Cay's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the beauty of familial bonds.
Preceded in death by her devoted parents and her beloved grandson, Christopher Dustal, Cay leaves behind a profound legacy of love and strength. She is survived by her four loving children, Dennis Angelo (Heather), Carol Dustal, Vincent Sims, and Stephanie Sims, each of whom carry forward her spirit and values. Additionally, she was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren, a great-grandmother to 27 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandmother to five great-great-grandchildren. She also shared her life with her partner of 30 years, Arles Napier. Her family was her greatest joy, and she reveled in every moment shared with them.
Cay was known for her remarkable career as a realtor and real estate investor. Her tenacity and keen insight allowed her to thrive in a competitive field, making a name for herself and serving her community with integrity and dedication. She approached her work with the same passion that she brought to her family life, always striving to help others find their dream homes.
Although her professional life was significant, it was the personal connections she fostered that truly defined Cay. She lived a full life, marked by her warm spirit and kindness. She was a beacon of light for many, and her absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her. Friends and family alike will remember her for her unwavering support, her infectious laughter, and the love she so generously shared.
Cay's interests extended beyond her career; her hobbies and passions enriched her life and the lives of those around her. She cherished the moments spent surrounded by family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by generations to come.
As we celebrate her life, we honor the incredible woman she was. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. Cay Van De Voort will be deeply missed by many, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones.
