It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Chris Wilkinson, who departed this life on September 14, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on July 20, 1937, in Miami, Florida, Robert lived a life full of adventure, service, and love.

Robert's journey began in the sun-kissed shores of Miami, where he was raised amidst the warmth of family and community. He grew to embody the values of hard work and dedication, which he carried throughout his life. After serving proudly in the United States Air Force, Robert transitioned into a remarkable career with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, where he devoted 23 years of his life. His commitment to public safety was exemplified in his role as Captain and District 2 Commander, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community he served.

In addition to his professional achievements, Robert was a devoted family man. He leaves behind two beloved children, Robert Jr. and Michael, who cherish the life lessons and love he imparted. His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom carry a piece of his spirit. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Harley Wilkinson, his mother, Christine Blackwell, and one son, Roy Wilkinson, who sadly passed away in 2020. He also leaves behind six siblings, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and bonds.

Robert was a man of many interests. He had a deep love for travel and was fortunate enough to visit Ireland and England twice each, as well as Holland. He looked forward to annual road trips to Pennsylvania, which he eagerly planned for late June and early July, creating cherished memories with family along the way.

His contagious laughter, warm smile, and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. He had a unique way of making everyone feel special and valued. His love for his family was unparalleled, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness.

As we mourn the loss of Robert Chris Wilkinson, we also celebrate a life well-lived. His dedication to service, family, and adventure will be remembered by all whose lives were touched by him. A private funeral service will be held in his honor.
