Trooper Philip Guy Bailie peacefully went to his eternal home with Jesus on September 10, 2025, in Asheville,
N.C., at age 91. He is now resting in the everlasting arms of Jesus and reunited with his loving wife, Shirley. He was
born in St. Charles, VA. At age 15, he enlisted in the Army and after initial training was assigned to Eighth Army,
10 th Corps, General Forces Headquarters, 2d Raider Company. In the Korean War, he conducted special operations
deep behind enemy lines. While maneuvering in North Korea the enemy ambushed him and shot through the arm,
at age 16. Miraculously, he was transported by helicopter from the front lines to the rear battle area to recover. He
later received the Purple Heart and after he fulfilled his military service obligation, he joined the Florida Highway
Patrol (FHP). He served with distinction for 35 years. In fact, when the Florida Governors and other dignitaries
came to South Florida, they wanted him to personally escort them. He was well respected by all troopers throughout
the state. He personally trained many rookies (new recruits) and several of them were later promoted to higher
levels of responsibility, including the Colonel of the FHP. He also worked two part-time jobs to support his wife and
three sons. He gave all he had to provide for his family. He also made sure the family travelled on vacations at least
once a year. Additionally, he participated with the family in several other outdoor activities such as camping trips,
beach outings, and theme parks of all kinds.
He was best known for his relationship with Jesus Christ. He was the finest and most sincere Christian around. He
not only proclaimed the Gospel, he daily lived out the Gospel. He instilled within his immediate and extended
family members the importance of having a personal and enduring relationship with Jesus. He took every
opportunity to share Jesus with others. He never met a stranger and would always tell interesting stories about how
God had miraculously protected him from impending danger while on patrol. While on patrol with the FHP he was
working a horrible fatal accident, as he was pulling a fatally wounded passenger out of the mangled car, the victim
listened to his prayer and accepted Jesus as her personal Savior, then died in his arms. Most people were so
fascinated with his stories that they wanted to hear more. He touched the hearts and lives of people everywhere he
went, and he left people thinking of how great God really is. He discussed the significance of preparing for one's
appearance before the judgement seat of Christ after death. He told people that the Bible is very clear on this fact;
following this judgement, all people who ever lived on earth will receive one of two outcomes: acceptance into
heaven as a reward for following the teachings of Jesus, or, denial and separation, resulting in entry to hell, a place
for those who live a Godless life. Throughout his life, dad often reminded others what the Bible says, that every
person born here on earth must decide to accept and follow Jesus' teachings, or not. He truly believed that this is the most
important decision every human must make because God created all humans to be immortal. However, each person's
willful decision determines whether they spend eternity with Jesus in Heaven or eternal damnation in Hell with Satan.
