On January 7, 1949, Linsey was born to the late Gladys (Leslie) Myres and Lonnie Morris in Bogalusa, Louisiana. On December 14, 2024, he peacefully departed this earth doing something that he enjoyed "hunting".
Linsey was a loving and caring father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was known to many as "Red". He had a deep love for his family, and was always willing to do whatever he could for them. He loved cooking and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, fishing, and working on vehicles.
He was a member of Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Varnado, LA, under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Byron C. Muse. He was an active member of the usher board, and he attended Sunday school, church, and bible study.
He attended Wesley Ray High School. He went on to work for the paper mill and various trucking/logging companies, but he retired from Washington Parish Government Road Department in Franklinton, LA in 2011.
He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Mary May of Covington; three sons, Ceasar "Cecil" (Crystal) Myers of Varnado, Linsey (Debbie) Conerly of Hammond, and Jamal (Shanique) Johnson; twelve grandchildren, Rod'neshia and Jeremiah WIlliams of Varnado, Paisley May of Covington; Cecil, Cedric, Ceara, and Christian Myers all of Baton Rouge, Precious, Yasmine, Nykolas, Dru, and Armoni Conerly of Hammond; three great grandchildren, Mi'Lani Williams, Ka'Myri Myers, and Auriel Gustave; sisters, Ester Matthews, Hazel Morris, and Sandra Moore; brothers, Richard Myres, Frank, Lonnie, Jimmy Ray, and Bert Morris; sister-in-law, Deloris Myres; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gladys (Leslie) Myres and Lonnie Morris; daughter, Miesha Myers; brothers, James "Mickie" Myres, Michael Myres, and Lawrence Morris; sisters, Lucinda Myres and Phyllis Morris.
A family gathering will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 4:00PM - 6:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home however there will be no viewing.
Funeral service will be held at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 3:00PM with Rev. Dr. Byron C. Muse. Interment - Robinson Cemetery. Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa are in charge of Arrangements. Please sign guestbook at www.crainandsons.com.
