Cecelia Garza Hernandez, 69, of McDade, Texas, passed away on July 4, 2025, at her home with family and friends by her side. Cecelia was born on November 22, 1955, to Julia G. Hernandez and Victor Hernandez in Anson, Texas. She grew up in the small community of Coupland and lived in Elgin for a time before settling in McDade, where she had lived for the past twenty years.
Cecelia was a custodian for the Elgin Independent School District for twenty-two years. She enjoyed going out to eat, shopping at retail stores, and browsing garage sales.
Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Julia Hernandez; her brother Pete Hernandez; her sister Ann Hernandez; and her daughter’s father, Jose Luis Solor.
Cecelia is survived by her daughter, Maranda Hernandez; grandson Joshua Lopez; granddaughter Samantha Lopez; brothers Phil Hernandez, Jimmy Hernandez, and Victor Hernandez; and sisters Carolyn Guerrero, Mary Helen Lopez, and Christina Mendez.
