Cecilia C. "Cookie" Ely

Kulpmont - Cecilia C. "Cookie" (Mains) Ely, 82, passed away on March 2, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born in New York on January 10, 1944, the daughter of Wade and Cecilia (Tarlecky) Mains.

Cecilia worked for many years as a manager of a local garment factory and later as a traffic manager for Lowes Corporation.

On May 30, 1967, she married the late Paul W. Ely, who preceded her in death in 2003.

Cecilia was a member of the Divine Redeemer Church. She was an avid bowler in younger years. Cecilia was very generous and donated to many charitable organizations.

Cecilia is survived by her siblings, Mary Menapace of Kulpmont, James (Ann) Mains, Elaine (Gus) Rivera, Kevin (Missy) Mains of Shamokin, Karen (Dave) Womer of Kulpmont; many nieces and nephews; and two beloved cats, Hazel and Kitty. In addition to her parents and husband, Cecilia was preceded in death by a sister, Stella McIntire; a brother, Jerry Shihinski; a niece; a nephew; and two cats, Leo and George.

Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 11 a.m. with Msgr. Francis Karwacki officiating in SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Mt. Carmel. In lieu of flowers, to honor Cecilia's love of animals, especially cats, memorial contributions may be made to the animal charity of your choice.
