Cecilia Ann Mowery, 83, formerly of McPherson, KS and Garland, TX, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, surrounded by family at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River, KS.
She was born July 9, 1941, in Portsmouth, OH, the daughter of Robert Franklin and Marie Cecilia (Lauter) Rickey. Cecilia graduated from Valley High School in Lucasville, OH and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston. On June 19, 1961, she was united in marriage to Ronald Gray Mowery in Ohio. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2002.
Cecilia had a long and exceptional career in finance with an amazing wealth of knowledge. Even though she was devoted to work, family definitely came first. She attended every possible event with them.
Survivors include two children, Robert (Becky) Mowery and Tamme (David) Lackey, all of McPherson, KS; daughter-in-law, Melanie Mowery of Garland, TX; a brother, Tom Rickey of Elkridge, MD; sister, Wanda (Phil) Howard of Lucasville, OH; five grandchildren, Victoria Mowery, Gray (Sydnee) Mowery, James Mowery, Madison (Nick) Venning, and Jacob Lackey; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob & Marie Rickey; husband, Ron Mowery; and sister-in-law, Jan Rickey.
A celebration of life (come & go) will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Stockham Family Funeral Home.
