Cecilia Yaworski Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 4, 2025.
Cecilia Ruchala Yaworski, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully in

her sleep in the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 30, 2025. She

was 99 years and 17 days young and only two days prior to her death, she

enjoyed visiting the summit of Mount Tremblant in Canada on a glorious

autumn day.

Born in Easton, Pennsylvania, on September 13, 1926, she was the

daughter of Ernestyne Kozakiewicz Ruchala and Joseph Ruchala. After

graduating from Easton High School, she began her career as a talented

stenographer. In 1952, she married Michael Yaworski, also of Easton.

Together, they lived a life filled with both hard work and play, sharing

passions for tennis, dancing, sledding, ice skating, and, in retirement,

skiing nearly every winter day. Their adventurous spirits took them

across the country many times in their RV.

Cecilia was a wonderful cook, seamstress, and gardener, picking and

canning the endless vegetables she cultivated in her gardens in

Meadville and later in Easton, PA, where she and Michael eventually retired.

Ever effervescent, Cecilia could, and often did, strike up

conversations and friendships wherever she went. Her generous heart was

always quick to share, whether it was a batch of cookies she'd just

made, a sunrise, a starry night, or the fox passing across the lawn.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Y. Cooper (Martin) of

Farmington, CT, and JoAnn Yaworski Usher (Glenn) of West Chester, PA,

with whom she resided as well as many nieces and nephews. She will also

be missed by the companion animals who doted on her. She also cherished

the many friends she made at the ACAC athletic club in West Chester, PA through slow dance, tai chi,

and yoga classes. The phrase most often heard from her when she

described spending time with friends was "We laughed and laughed." Cecilia was featured on a Fox News segment

about her ability to still exercise when she was 96 years of age. The segment was televised by affiliate news stations across the country.

She was the last of her generation, predeceased not only by her five

siblings but also by the five of her husband Michael (2016). Her remains

will join those of her husband at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.

Memorial donations may be made in her honor to any cause close to the

giver's heart, but especially to organizations that support the

well-being of animals.
