Nicholas Joseph Cekine III, age 69, of Wilmington, Delaware, was called home on Saturday, February 8th, 2025. Nick was a proud graduate of Archmere Academy, Class of 1973, and earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1983. He loved playing guitar, scuba diving, and his endless and ever-growing collection of dad jokes.
Nick, predeceased by his father Nicholas Joseph Cekine Jr., leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Charlene, and their children and spouses: Danielle Mezick (Derek), Katrina Ennamorato (Joseph), Melissa Caddell (Stephen), and Alexandra Smith (Benjamin). His cherished grandchildren, Lillian and Everley, will forever remember his warmth. Nick is also survived by his mother, Kathleen Cekine, and his siblings: Constance Griffith-Smith (Dale), Maureen Fisher (Mike), Bernadette Cekine, Eileen Morris (Douglas), Lorraine Sheldon (Paul), and Anthony Cekine. Numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends will miss him dearly. Nick was a cherished husband, devoted father, loving grandfather, and a dear friend who profoundly impacted the lives of those around him. His warmth and kindness will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church at 4701 Weldin Rd, Wilmington, DE. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike (Rt. 202 S. of Silverside Rd.), Talleyville, DE 19803 on Monday February 17, 2025 from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Nick's name to Samaritan's Purse. To donate, click here: samaritanspurse.org
