Chad Bateman Obituary

Chad Bateman, 47, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 9, 2025, at his home.

On July 19, 1978, Chad was born, the third child to Hal Donald and Theresa Joy Bateman. He grew up and attended schools in Shelley and graduated from Shelley High School.

In 1996, he met his future wife, Jessica Richards. They started dating in 2001 and married on April 20, 2001. Later that year, they had their first son, Gage. They moved from Shelley to Idaho Falls in 2004. In 2014, they were overjoyed to receive another child, who he is now reunited with, his precious angel baby girl, Jacelynn.

Chad always loved big trucks and wanted to drive them, just like his dad. In 2021, he started working his dream job at Eaton Towing driving a tow truck. In that same year, they welcomed their daughter, Novalie. He loved taking Jessica and Nova on long haul drives in the tow truck. They traveled all over and knocked a lot of places off their bucket list. He and his son, Gage, started a competition to see who could mark off more states on their list- and Gage was in the lead. In 2023, they got a surprise when their son, Huxley, joined the family making it complete.

Chad loved what he did and was always working to take care of the family he built.

Chad left a huge mark on this world and he will truly and deeply be missed by all who knew him and those he just met. He could always make a friend wherever he went.

Chad is survived by his wife, Jessica Bateman of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Gage (Dani) Bateman; daughter, Novalie Bateman, son, Huxley Bateman; mother, Theresa Joy Bateman; brother, Aaron (Lisa) Bateman, sister, Trisha (and late, Bobby) Stewart, brother, Les (Breanne) Bateman; mother-in-law, Coy Richards; sister-in-law, Jennifer Richards; and 9 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his precious baby girl, Jacelynn; father, Hal Bateman; father-in-law, Bruce Richards; brothers-in-law, Bobby Stewart, and Jeremy Richards; and grandparents, Boyd and Meldeane Whitmill.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Shelley 3rd Ward, 513 Park Avenue. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., and Saturday 10-10:45 a.m. prior at the church.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
