Chad W. Sweatman, age 55, of Gosport, Indiana passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He was born May, 8, 1969 in Manhasset, New York to Gary and Connie "Spaenhower" Sweatman. Chad married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn "Rader" Sweatman on September 13, 1986. He was employed as a Facilities Director at Indiana University in Bloomington. Chad was a huge IU sports fan (even in the crappy years)! He also enjoyed listening and belting out old country music songs, cooking, fishing, farming and spending time with his grandkids most of all. He coached many little league baseball and basketball teams. Chad was a loyal and trusted friend. He enjoyed getting together and celebrating holidays and special events with his family. His favorite attire was his bib overalls. Most importantly he is deeply loved by his family, and through them, his amazing legacy will live on.
Chad is survived by his father Gary Sweatman; wife, Kathy; children, Kori (Kurtis) Frederick, Jake (Amanda) Sweatman, and Kaitlin (Corbin) Abrell; grandchildren, Rilee Frederick, Paige Frederick, Fletcher Abrell, Solomon Abrell, Elizabeth Sweatman, Ruby Abrell, Claire Sweatman, and Levi Frederick; sisters, Shannon Brown and Samantha (Annie) Sweatman; niece, Hailee Brown.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Sweatman; grandparents, Charlie and Dorothy Spaenhower, and Arthur and Hazel Sweatman; uncle, Forrest (Cocky) Sweatman.

I had a phone conversation with Chad several months ago when we discussed memories of times past. I am a cousin of the Sweatman family and grew up with his dad Gary in Virginia, Illinois. I helped the family move to Indiana in 1969 when Chad was one-year old.. I visited with Chad on his farm two years ago and had a great time. It was a great shock to me of his passing. GOD Bless Chad and his family. They will always be in my heart and mind.
