DEER CREEK – Chad "Brent" Thompson, 52, of Deer Creek, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at his home. Brent was born on January 24, 1972, in Peoria, Illinois, to Dan and Barbara (Hays) Thompson. Surviving are his daughter, Taylor (Cody) Waldon; son, Tylor (Kylie) Thompson; two grandsons, Rhett and Ryder Thompson; mother, Barbara (Dave) Ferguson; father Dan (Lois) Thompson; two sisters, Kirstin (Matt) Giacometti and Joanna (Matthew Gairani) Thompson; brother, Joshua (Sara) Thompson; nieces and nephews, Grace, Emma and Samuel Giacometti; Haley, Kaytlynd, Lorena, Joshlyn, Scarlett, and Elliott Thompson; his dog, Buck and grand-dog, Winston. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Gertrude Hays and Ralph and Mabel Thompson. Brent was most proud of being a devoted father and grandpa. He was a wonderful son, brother, and friend to so many. He spent most of his life as a professional painter and just received his 10- year union pin. In his free time, you could find Brent mowing with Hank Williams, Jr. in his ear, working out, spending time with his children and grandchildren and cooking. Although he liked to stay busy, Brent would always make time to take Buck out for a truck ride. He had a passion for outdoors and loved being able to live on the farm, which seconded as his childhood home. Brent never missed a Saturday morning haircut and was certain that every year would be "the year" the Bears would beat the Packers. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Friday, August 30, 2024, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be held from 10 to noon prior to the service at the funeral home. A private family burial will be at Hard Scrabble Cemetery in Deer Creek.
