It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Chad Eric Wofford on December 31, 2023, in Davidson, OK. Services will be held at the Frederick gymnasium "Bomber Hangar," at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2023, with the Honorable David Barnett and Bro. Norman Hayes, pastor of First Baptist Church of Davidson, officiating.
Chad was born to Charles and Cindy Wofford on May 7, 1978, in Frederick, OK. Chad was proud to have graduated from Manitou Public Schools in 8th grade. He went on to complete his education at Snyder High School, graduating in May 1996. Not long after, he set his sights on Anna Jane Espinosa. He would find her little VW Bug and show up everywhere she was. I guess you could add a stalker to his profession following High School. That hard work paid off because they wed on June 14, 1997, in a beautiful ceremony at Hamm’s Lake in Hammsville, OK.
Chad worked at SWOJC in Manitou, then off to the next journey, to Pro Haul. Once he left Pro Haul, he did a little stint working for the county. After leaving the county, he worked part-time as the Water Superintendent of Davidson, OK.
He finally was able to follow his dream of being a Farmer and Rancher. Chad and Anna had a dream of opening a pumpkin patch, which they accomplished in 2016. Chad served as Fire Department Chief at Davidson Fire Department. He took being a fireman very serious and wanted to serve his community to the best of his ability.
Chad Wofford was always ready and eager to help someone. He enjoyed volunteering within his community, practicing becoming an amateur barrel racer with little success, and attempting to compete in the World’s Best Rodeo Pageant Dad Competition. If he wasn’t chasing his two daughters with their own dreams or fulfilling his wife's arm-long honey-do list, he could oftentimes be found tucked in a corner or just in plain sight watching Facebook and Instagram Reels. Which is probably why the honey-do list was rarely completed. We would say one of his hobbies included attempting to be a stockholder of his snack addiction, Little Debbie’s. Some may say he made it a hobby to make jokes and exaggerated stories about his vast injuries over the years, his nub being one of the most told. You could often find Chad at the local Hop & Sack talking with the customers, collecting his coffee, and personalized biscuit or Honey Bun. All of which he adamantly denied eating to his wife (for years), despite the many wrappers stuffed in his truck and thrown in the burn pit. He taught his girls how to hide the evidence and may have even swindled a Hop N Sack employee, to never to tell his wife.
Chad was always known to be a jokester or the life of the party. He truly did have a serious loving side. Chad and his family were members of Davidson First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He worked numerous fundraisers to raise money for the Davidson Fire Department. His goal for his community was that they could get the care and assistance they needed in a timely manner, which included working to get the 911 paging system in our community working successfully.
Chad served as a Board Member for Operation C.A.R.E. ministries of Tillman County. He worked hard to make sure he rearranged his schedule to attend meetings, sometimes running late. Being present was very important to him because this was another outreach that helps people in the county. Chad not only donated his time but his resources as well to help. One of those was donating cattle to be auctioned off and all proceeds going to Operation C.A.R.E. His heart was in using this platform to tell others about the love of Christ and sharing the word of Christ. Those that attended board meetings can testify that this was of great importance to Chad.
He took pride in the Red River Pumpkin patch. Making sure everything was ready for the children when they would visit. The kids loved having Farmer Chad pull them on the hay ride. Chad adored the kids that came out and he absolutely loved seeing their smiles. He wanted to make sure the pumpkin patch was memorable for them and he put in a lot of work to accomplish that.
Chad's advice to those that know and love him would be to to laugh often, help others, and most importantly spread the word of our Saviour. Celebrate his life by being an example, and rest assured he is walking the streets of gold.
He is survived by his loving wife: Anna Jane Wofford; two daughters: Kassadi Jane and Kennadi Jace; father and mother: Charles and Cindy Wofford; sister: Melissa Charlyne Lamar and her two daughters, Rose and Tiffany; brother: Chase Emmett Wofford and his wife Heather, with their two children, Josiah and Leena; and an aunt: Debra Robbins.
He was preceded in death by grandparents: Donald and Lois Rogers, and William and Nila Wofford; aunt: Nancy Wilson and husband Jim; uncles: Ronnie Rogers, and Jerry Rogers; and brother-in-law: Jeremy Lamar.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorial contributions may be made to Davidson Fire Department to continue Chad’s work.
Chad wanted his life celebrated with a party. Please join us following the ceremony to the Great Plains Vo-Tech to continue celebrating Chad’s life with cake and ice cream, and of course Little Debbie snacks.
