Chalmers Lawrence Bruce III, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, in Richmond County, North Carolina, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was 69 years old.

Born on October 16, 1955, Lawrence was a vibrant spirit whose kindness and fun-loving nature touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. He grew up in a close-knit family, graduating from Richmond Senior High School in 1973 before pursuing a degree in Drafting from RTI. His educational background paved the way for a fulfilling career as an engineer with CSX, where he dedicated many years of service.

A man of many interests, Lawrence enjoyed spending quality time at Lake Tillery, making unforgettable memories with those he cherished. His love for life was evident in his laughter, his compassionate heart, and the time he devoted to family. He was a source of strength and support for his loved ones, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile.

Lawrence was a devoted man of faith whose life reflected his deep love for God and others. He found strength, purpose, and community through his church family. As a cherished member of Abundant Life Church of God, Lawrence faithfully served and worshiped with a heart full of gratitude and compassion. Before that, he was also a beloved member of Twin Harbor Worship center in Mt. Gilead, where his kindness, laughter, and steadfast spirit touch many lives. His faith journey though both congregations was a testament of his unwavering belief in God's goodness and his desire to share that love with everyone around him.

Lawrence leaves behind his devoted wife, Wanda Greene Bruce. Together, they nurtured a loving home that blossomed with the joy of family. He is also survived by his daughter, Amy Bruce Locklear (Matthew), and son, Jason Bruce (Melody) his step-son Kenneth Doyle Rush (Angie), step-daughter Crystal Rush Smith (Patrick), sister Kathy Bream, and brothers-in-law Rev. Wayne Greene (Gail), Rev. Charles Ray Greene, and Terry Greene, and a loving father-in-law Elvin Greene. His legacy continues through his sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who will forever cherish the special moments they shared with their grandfather.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his father, Chalmers Lawrence Bruce, Jr., his mother, Ruby Mills Bruce, and beloved family members Jennifer Rush Mabe (step-daughter), Tim Bream (brother-in-law), and Judy Greene (sister-in-law).

A visitation in memory of Lawrence will be held at Abundant Life Church Of God in Rockingham, North Carolina, on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Joe B. Wilkes, Jr. officiating

Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made in Lawrences' name to; Liberty Hospice 2334 South 41st Street, Wilmington, North Carolina 28403 or Abundant Life Church Of God  P.O. Box 875 Rockingham, North Carolina 28380 

Friends and family are warmly invited to gather to honor a man whose loving spirit and enduring legacy will forever illuminate their lives.

Chalmers Lawrence Bruce III leaves behind an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him. His memory will live on in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the love we continue to give in his name.
