Chanda Danette Smith was born March 21, 1978, in Lubbock, Texas to Joe Don Smith and Connie Latimer Smith. Chanda was promoted to Heaven and safely into Jesus' arms on November 5, 2025, in Van Alstyne, Texas at the age of 47 after a long battle with Sanfilippo Syndrome.

Chanda attended school in Paducah, Texas. She loved her teachers and her friends, and everyone was her friend! She left all who knew her with funny memories. She was a fun little girl that would give teachers and high school kids the names she thought that they should have.

She loved going to the farm with Gramma and Granddad Latimer, to 'help them' check the cows. Chanda loved to skip and she loved to talk, sing and giggle until Sanfilippo Syndrome took its toll. Sadly, the disease took all those things from her. She never stopped responding to music and would respond with a giggle until she couldn't giggle anymore, then she would give a big smile.

Chanda is survived by her mother, Connie Christopher and stepfather, Randy Christopher; sister, Amy Butts (Stanley); brother, Chris Smith (Shannon); bonus brother, Kyle Christopher (Brittani); bonus sister, Kely Kitchens (Kiel); 9 nieces and nephews; and 4 greats.

Chanda was preceded in death by her dad, Joe Don Smith; maternal grandparents, W.L.(Billie) Latimer and Thera Latimer; paternal grandparents, J.R. Smith and Monita Smith.

We would like to thank Hospice Plus for the care given to Chanda during these difficult times. We would also like to thank Meadowbrook Care Center and the staff that has cared for Chanda over the last 6 years.

Graveside service will be held at 11:30 am November 8, 2025, at Quanah Memorial Park Cemetery in Quanah, Texas.
