Chandarkallie Sawh

Chandarkallie Sawh, lovingly known as Dai or Aji, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, in Spring, Texas, at the age of 87, with her daughter by her side. She was born on March 4, 1938, in #58th Village, Guyana, and lived in #72nd Village, Crabwood Creek, and #71st Village. She is the eldest of 21 children of Samaroo Rampersaud and Chandrawattie Samaroo. She was the beloved sister of Ramdat, Somdat, Kamla, Keshodat, Bayo, Sewa, Munnie, Denish, Mala, Jean, Seeta, and Lalita, and was predeceased by several siblings who passed away in childhood.

She was the devoted wife of the late Jagmohan Sawh and the loving mother of nine children: Rishi, the late Suresh, Bobo, Janack, Blackie (Vivek), Jagdesh, Adesh, Galo, and the late Son. Widowed in 1975, she courageously raised her family with love and strength. In 1984, she immigrated to the United States, first settling in Hoboken and later in Jersey City, where her home became a cherished hub for family gatherings.

She is survived by her children-six sons (7 daughter in laws, Sabrina, Davica, Sabita, Dattie, Sabita (Urmila), Nadira, and Tajwattie) and one daughter (1 son in law, Omesh)-along with 23 grandchildren: Cynthia, Jerry, Jasminee, Jenny, Sureain, Robert, Jimmy, Varen, Janet, Bonita, Joanne (Julie), Sudesh, Steven, Kashminie, Janita, Natasha, Shakuntala, Sonia, Emily, Kevin, Rovina, Natalia, and Teron (Bud); 25 great-grandchildren; her siblings, nieces and nephews; and many relatives and friends.

She will be remembered for her humor, resilience, and devotion to family, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue through generations.
