Charlene Fuquay, 91, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 24, 2025. She was born on February 21, 1934, in Gallatin, Tennessee to the late Willie and Vertie Horton.
She was a member of Buck Creek Christian Church for over 30 years.
Charlene is survived by her children, Jacqueline Houk, Richard (Sue) Fuquay, and Gary (Jennifer) Fuquay; grandchildren, Tammy, Candi, Ricky, Sara, Amanda, Rebecca, Andrew and James; 5 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Clifford Fuquay; son-in-law, Steve Houk; daughter-in-law, Myra Fuquay; as well as her siblings, Willie, Jimmy, and baby Nancy.
Charlene treasured her time in the cabin that Jack built. There were many fond memories that were shared with family and friends there at Sweetwater Lake. As we say goodbye to Charlene, we celebrate the woman she was and the mark she left on the world. Her impeccable yard was a testament to her dedication and love for gardening, a hobby that provided her with immense joy and a way to share her creativity with family, neighbors and friends. All that knew her will treasure their memories, like a perennial garden that blooms year after year.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the service time at 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 29th, 2025, at Wilson St Pierre, 5950 E Thompson Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana 46237. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Careline Hospice https://carelinehealthgroup.com/patients-and-caregiver-options/what-is-hospice/careline-hospice-foundation/. Please share memories, photographs and online condolences with the family at www.stpierrefamilyfuneral.com.
