Steven E. Dixon DDS, 78 passed away October 4, 2025. He was born January 7, 1947 in Linton, Indiana. He graduated from Bosse High School in Evansville, Indiana and after graduation attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. He had a desire to become a dentist and went to Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana. After receiving his license, he moved back to Evansville and opened a dental practice on the east side. His true calling was to teach and after he was offered a position at the Indiana School of Dentistry, he sold his practice and moved to Indianapolis where he became a full-time clinical Instructor.
During his time there, He received numerous awards for his outstanding work and was loved by all the dental students that he helped to obtain their goal of becoming a dentist.
He loved attending IU Basketball and football games! On weekends, you might find him walking around car lots deciding what car he wanted to purchase next!
His greatest enjoyment was being with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren! He is survived by his wife of 36 years Patricia Stanich Dixon. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father Mary and Emory Dixon, Mother and Father-in-Law Mike and Dorothy Stanich and his beloved grandson Gage Elijah Murphy. He is also survived by his son and daughter William Michael Murphy and Deborah Kay Murphy, Granddaughter Samantha (Evan) Barnes great grandchildren Aria Grace Murphy, Cora and Olivia Collins, Norah Jean, Elijah James and Gemmah Rose Barnes and Brother in Laws Steve(Kristine) Stanich, Gary (Kim) Stanich and Alan (Jeanne) Stanich Also a special couple Alysa and Christian Collins.
The family would also like to Thank all the staff at Danville Regional Rehabilition center for the excellent care that was given to him in his final days.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in loving memory to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, or Indiana University School of Dentistry.
