Lynn Elaine Aldous, 72, of Indianapolis passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, while in the care of Majestic Care of Carmel, IN. Lynn was born in Lebanon, IN, to parents, Arthur G. Aldous and Olive (Markland) Aldous. Lynn was one of six children.
She is survived by her sisters, Mary Ann Wright (John) and Jean Herron (Dan), as well as her brother, Mark Aldous (David Campbell). Two of her brothers, William "Bill" Aldous (Alice) and James "Jim" Aldous, pre-deceased her. Although Lynn never married and had no children, she delighted in keeping up with her many nieces and nephews throughout their lives.
Lynn was a graduate of Zionsville High School in 1970 and went on to attend college at IUPUI in Indianapolis, earning a BS Degree in Business Management from Indiana University, as well as an Associate Degree in Food Service/Lodging Supervision and Certificates in Business Management and Accounting, each from Purdue. Her education prepared her for a professional career in food service sales and management with successive employers: Beatrice Foods, Hunt Wesson, ConAgra, and Dairy Queen International.
While in college, Lynn became manager of the Zionsville DQ. Zionsville residents (then and now) will recall that she subsequently took ownership of that beloved local "institution" in 1989, where she continued to work for several years. After her sale of the Dairy Queen, Lynn took a job in the business office of Butler Toyota.
Lynn's travels to other countries and cultures brought her a great deal of enjoyment and enrichment. She felt her most interesting trip was to the Far East and China in 1984. Attending DQ conventions took her to various tourist locales, where she enjoyed meeting many new friends. Her most recent hobbies included photography, scrapbooking and greeting card making, each of these providing avenues for staying connected with those she held dear.
An independent woman, proud of her accomplishments, she nonetheless remained humble and thankful for her many relatives and friends, as well as for the values established by her small-town upbringing. Fighting a 40+ year-battle with increasingly debilitating rheumatoid arthritis and the onset of normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), Lynn seldom complained or felt sorry for herself; instead choosing to keep a positive attitude.
The family wishes to extend thanks and appreciation to Pike Township EMS, Ascension St. Vincent Hospital and Majestic Care of Carmel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to benefit Riley Children's Hospital, 705 Riley Hospital Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46202.
Relatives and friends will be received at a Celebration of Lynn's Life to be held at Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care, 125 W. Sycamore Street in Zionsville, on Friday, June 27, from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Lynn, please visit our Tree Store.
