Charlene J. Sweede, age 86 of Wilmington passed away at her residence on November 4th, 2021 with her loving Daughter by her side.
Born on April 11th, 1935 in West Chester, PA to the late Harvey and Olivia Reynolds (nee Fabiucci) she was born and raised in Pennsylvania and attended Kennett High School and graduated in the class of 1953. Charlene later went on to attend cosmetology school and worked as a hair dresser for many years before becoming the food service program director at MBNA childcare center where she was loved by the parents and children she served.
Charlene was loved by all, and loved all-in return especially her family and grandchildren. She will be remembered cooking in the kitchen with her closest friends or at the Church parish while her children were in school, enjoying the holidays with family, watching tennis and other sports teams and taking trips to Atlantic City and playing cards in her card club. In addition, Charlene was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved her favorite NFL Coach Andy Reid.
In addition to her parents, Charlene is preceded in death by her daughter Kelly Sweede and her sister Gloria Gelsinger.
Charlene is survived by her daughter Colleen Pierson and her husband Robert of Wilmington; Sister Patti Press of Wilmington and her grandchildren Brandon and wife Courtney; Kelly and her fiancée Bryana and Paige and Great-Grandchild Amelia.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to Bayada Hospice especially Charlene's Nurse Rebecca and her aide Christina.
The family will accept friends and guests on Monday November 15th from 10:30-11:30 at St. John the Beloved Church located at 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30, Burial will take place immediately following at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in Charlene's honor to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.
