Charles Alexander Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by All County Funeral Home-Del Lago Chapel - Lake Worth on Dec. 21, 2023.
Charles Frederick "Fred" Alexander of Boca Raton (FL) passed away on December 17, 2023. He was 91 years old. He was born to Charles G. Alexander and Mildred K. Alexander in St. Louis, Missouri. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jane Mansell Alexander.
Fred graduated from Maplewood High School in 1949. He earned a BA in Math from Drury College in 1953 and an MS in Math from the University of Illinois in 1963. He also attended the U.S Navy Postgraduate School from 1960-1961, studying Aeronautical Engineering.
Fred entered the Navy's Officer Candidate School at Newport, Rhode Island in 1963. He was a naval aviator with two tours in operating squadrons. He rose to the rank of Commander, leading Carrier Early Warning Squadron 121. He later worked in the Atlantic Command Operations Control Center, with duties that included programming for fleet readiness and nuclear warfare.
After retiring from the Navy, Fred applied his knowledge and experience to data processing in the private sector. Teaching and shaping young minds were a passion for Fred throughout his life. He taught Math at Westminster Academy, Old Dominion University and Bethune-Cookman College.
Fred's faith was paramount in his life. He served as an elder in the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church and he would want to be remembered, first and foremost, as a Christ follower. He was making disciples to the very end.
In addition to his wife, Jane, Fred's survivors include his three sons: Jim Alexander (Elaine), Steve Alexander (Karen, preceded) and Dan Alexander (Nixi). He is also survived by seven grandchildren (Ryan, Lauren, Matthew, Michael, Sarah (Casey), Aleisha, and Patrick).
