Charles A. Anderson
Charles "Chuck" A. Anderson, age 60, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at his home. Chuck was born on March 14, 1964, to the late Charles and Velma Anderson. A lover of dogs, Chuck was also preceded in death by his loyal companions, Sammy, Nevaeh, and Emmett.
Following his graduation from Heritage Christian Academy in 1982, Chuck began working at Hamot Hospital. Chuck worked his way up to Chief Stationary Engineer over his 42 years spent at UPMC Hamot.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman as well as sports fan. He was a member of the Hamot softball team for over a decade. He enjoyed rooting for the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Indians, however, his most beloved teams were those played on by his son, Corey, including McDowell Baseball and Millcreek Legion Post 773 Baseball. Chuck had a strong faith in the Lord and a patriotic heart for his country. He loved spending time with his many friends at the Knights of St. George. One of Chuck's greatest qualities was his ability to make friends. Nobody stayed a stranger for long. He had a giving heart and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Chuck is survived by his three children, Corey Anderson, Jenna Anderson (Taylor Hanlin), and Nicole Anderson; two sisters, Judy Ross (Richard) and Carol Anderson-Belczyk (Norb); one grandson, Graham Hanlin and one granddaughter soon to be born; niece, Leah Anderson; nephew, Richard Ross Jr; great-niece, Emilee Anderson; great-nephew, Carson Ross; dear friends, Sharon Valerio, Smokey Weber, and Robert Roach; and his beloved dogs, Nova, Capone, Roxy, and Wally.
Chuck will be forever loved and never forgotten. Remember him with a smile, for his spirit was as bright as the laughter he shared with all who knew him.
Chuck was a longtime supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Donations can be made in his honor at stjude.org. At the family's request, private arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc.

I knew Chuck from working at Hamot from 1983-86, when I was an environmental specialist ("window washer") while Chuck was working there as an orderly with my brother, Brett. As was mentioned in the obituary and by others here, Chuck epitomized the "friends for life" phrase, as I absolutely loved the times we had together playing softball with the "Animals", the summer parties with the Hamot Gang, the picnics at Waldameer, 4th of July, Hamot dances, Pig Roasts, football gatherings, post-softball keggers. Chuck made everyone feel welcomed, whether you were an old soul or a newbie to the group. I miss those days, now memories, but I'll always remember Chuck's engaging smile and huge heart. RIP my friend. you will not be forgotten.

Chuck, Ed Colvin and I used to bring Perch to the St.George club for huge fish fries, both great people!

I am a good friend of Chuck´s son Corey. I would echo his obituary in saying that Chuck would give the shirt off his back to anyone. He was a genuine guy and always spoke to you with genuine attention and interest in how you were doing. He was also an overall good time and very funny guy, never a dull moment. I hadn´t seen Chuck in several years but i can guarantee he would still be the same as if no time had passed.

Rest in Peace Chuck, gone too young.
