Mr. Charles Mason Bailey Jr. also known as "Man Bailey" or "Uncle Man" of Petersburg, Virginia, gained his heavenly wings on Saturday December 21, 2024 at the Colonial Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
One of four children of the late Charles and Victoria Bailey, Charles was born April 1,1938 and was a native of New Kent County.
In his early years, Charles worked for VH Poper Manufacturer in Petersburg, Virginia where he would sometimes bring his sons to help. He also worked for Island Industries in Richmond, Virginia. His last occupation, which he loved dearly, was his trucking business that he ran with his very own dump truck. Charles was a quiet and laid-back guy who loved his family and playing his numbers.
He was preceded in death by his three little sisters: Louise Johnson, Victoria Miller, and Vergetter Tootsie Dickerson; two nephews; three nieces, Louise Dickerson (devoted) and his favorite cousin. Thomas R Wilkerson.
Charles leaves to Cherish his memories: his wife/friend of 61 years, Evelyn L Bailey; loving children, Charles Mason Bailey III, Evelyn B. Patrick (James), Thomas A Bailey and Robert L Bailey (Catherine);his grandkids, who were dear to his heart, Shaunell Snail Pegram (devoted), Monique Mason, Nicole B. Harrison (Reginald), Kiara Bailey, Vijay Jones, Xavier Bailey and Nasir Bailey; his loving great-grands, SaQuan and Kamari Harrison, Aniyah Mason, Armoni Godette, Jahieem Harris and Brielle Briggs; one great-great grand, Asiah S Harrison; sisters- in law, Mable Brown, Dr. Nancy B Ellis, and Gloria Brown; brothers- in-law. James Brown and Charles Harper and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, among them devoted, Ebony Dickerson, Rayland Dickerson and Antione Andy Brown; and last but not least, his devoted caregiver, Carolyn Smith. The family would like to thank Colonial Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing center and Bristol Hospice Care for their acts of kindness in Mr. Bailey's last days. Mr. Bailey will be remembered for his laid-back quiet demeanor and relaxing listening to his jazz music and watching his westerns. Mr. Bailey was the epitome of an amazing man. He was a hard-working husband, fantastic father, amazing PaPa and so much more to so many. His presence will be missed but his memory will live on in our hearts.
