Charles Phillip Bardons, cherished patriarch, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at the age of 90 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Born on September 18, 1935, in Hartford, Connecticut, Charles was a man whose life was defined by devotion to his family, a commitment to excellence in his profession and a legacy of service to his country.
Charles grew up in Wethersfield, CT, instilled with strong family values by his parents, George L. Bardons and Louise Nass Bardons. He was a graduate of Wethersfield High School, Class of 1953. His thirst for knowledge led him to begin service for his country at The Signal School in Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey, where he specialized in radar repair. Charles honorably served in the US Army from 1956 to 1959 at Fort Huachuca before continuing his service in the US Army Reserves until 1975.
Charles began his career at United Technologies, then worked at Exxon Nuclear and UTC Optical Systems, retiring from UTC after 31 years of service as a Specialist in Optics and Applied Technologies. Post retirement he worked with Motorola and Cross Match Technologies specializing in biometrics. His work was not just a job but a reflection of his lifelong passion for innovation and excellence.
Charles's loving nature and kindness were the hallmarks of his character. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Roberta, whose memory he cherished. Together, they raised a family of five children: Janine Bardons, spouse Theresa Guzauckas, Sharon Ortiz, spouse Johnny, Tracy Bardons, Amy Cory, spouse Chris, and Richard Bardons, spouse Joy. His role as a father was one that he treasured deeply, providing guidance, support, and love in equal measure.
He leaves behind his grandchildren, Douglas McBride, Brittany Leet, Landon Hilderbrand, Alexander Floto, Casey Cory, and Mason Cory. Charles delighted in their achievements and adventures, always offering words of wisdom and encouragement. The joy of family extended to his great-grandchildren, Gentry McBride, Ella Rae Leet, and Easton Floto, along with many nieces and nephews.
Charles is survived by his sisters, Louise Stoetzner and Winifred Sawrun. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, his dear wife Roberta, his brother George L. Bardons Jr., and niece Heidi Boutin, who all held special places in his heart.
A man of remarkable character, Charles left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew him. His legacy of love, kindness and service will continue to inspire his family and friends. Charles lived a full life, rich in experiences and surrounded by love. His memory will be treasured and his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Trustbridge - Care Center at Charles W. Gerstenberg Hospice Center for the utmost care given to their father.
Private celebrations of life will be held at a future date in Florida and Connecticut.
