Charles E. Beatty, 75, of Galesburg, Illinois, died peacefully at home, 11:23 a.m. Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Charlie as he was known, was born January 29, 1950 in Avon, Illinois, the son of Joseph R. and Martha M. (Becker) Beatty. After graduating high school, Charlie attended college for a short time before setting off on a career spanning 20 years as an electrician. His last 20 years working, Charlie worked as a general contractor, retiring in 2021.
Charlie is survived by one son, Karl Beatty of Galesburg; one grandson, Joseph Beatty; and his companion of 14 years, Lealonie Elliott of Galesburg. Charlie is also survived by two sisters, Nancy Buschart of Parker, Colorado and Kathy Walton of Marietta, Georgia.
Charlie enjoyed gardening, learning new things, and could fix anything in need of repair. Most of all, Charlie loved traveling, so much so he carried a card with “world’s wandered, photos collected, stories gathered, drinks enjoyed, and food consumed.”- Life is Good.
Cremation will be accorded. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. A celebration of life or as Charlie would say “a good party,” will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Galesburg Civic Art Center.
