Ronald Lee Hallbick, 62, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 11:33 a.m. September 23, 2025 as the result of a motor vehicle accident near Gilson, Illinois.

Ron was born January 11, 1963 in Bloomington, Illinois. Ron grew up in the Monmouth area, graduating from Monmouth High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications from Bradley University. He went on to work for WTVP and WMBD both in Peoria. He later worked at numerous places including Ameren, Eckrich Farms, Cricket, Big Lots, and Blick Art Materials.

Ron married Lisa Ann Kolesar on July 18, 1992. They later divorced. Ron is survived by one son, Paul (Mackenzie) Hallbick of Dubuque, Iowa; a daughter, Abygail Kavelman; and two sisters, Sara Peterson of Monmouth, Illinois and Marty Erickson of Vermont, Illinois. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Chester L. and Frances M. (Stegall) Hallbick, Jr.

An avid outdoorsman, Ron enjoyed spending time fishing, camping, and boating. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed cheering on the Chicago White Sox. He also loved to watch hockey, especially the Peoria Rivermen and was a fan of Star Wars.

Cremation will be accorded. A memorial visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial of cremated remains will be at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Knox County Humane Society.
