Robert C. Lafferty, 95, of Monmouth, IL formerly of Oquawka, IL, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Courtyard Estates, Monmouth.

Bob was born July 16, 1930, in Monmouth, IL, the son of Harry S. and Dorothy (Brown) Lafferty. He was raised and educated in Monmouth graduating from Monmouth High School and he later attended Monmouth College.

Bob married Susan Davis on July 29, 1961, in Galesburg, IL. She preceded him in death on January 7, 2001.

He was President of the Martha Brown, LTD., chain of women’s apparel stores. This began his career of 40 years with Brown Lynch Scott Co.

Bob was a Mason, a Shriner, a Paul Harris Fellow and a retired member of the Monmouth Rotary Club.

Survivors include his niece; Lisa Manry of Atlanta, GA, and a very special young man whom he considered his son, Jeffery A. (Lesley) John and his children, Kaylee and Konner John all of Oquawka.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister and twin brothers.

Graveside services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Monmouth Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Shriner Children’s Hospital and sent to the funeral home.
