Charles Russell Bertrand, 72, of Montross, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 11, 2025. Chuck was born in Louisiana to the late Welton Bertrand and the late Bernadette Hollier Bertrand. He was the loving husband of Debra Wilkins Bertrand. Chuck was proudly retired from the United States Navy after a long career as a Chief Hospital Corpsman. He also retired from a sales position with Rainbow Vacuums. He was a member of Nomini Baptist Church.
Chuck was a man of many talents and much energy. He loved working on various projects in his garage as well as taking pride in the caring of his beautiful landscaped yard. He enjoyed traveling and enjoyed seeing many places across the globe, both during his tenure in the Navy as well as with his family. Chuck was a man of very strong faith and conviction. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Left to cherish Chuck's memory are his wife Debra; his sons, Christopher Paul Bertrand (Amanda) and Chad Elliott Bertrand (Kira); his step-children, Robert Lee Walston, IV (Bethany) and Elizabeth Walston Barnett (John); his grandchildren: Theresa, Summer, Tyler, Lincoln, Avery, Tanner, Lucas, Laurel, Ava, Thea, Chandler, Kaden, Caleb, and Claire, ; his great-grandchildren: Jace, Jensen and Oliver; his sisters: Susan Syrett (Raymond), Sherry Wallsmith, Kelly Bertrand and Vickie Bertrand; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. The family would like to extend a warm thanks to Pastor Billy Howeth, II and Pastor Steve Taylor for their kindness and friendship during Chuck's illness.
Preceding Chuck in death are his parents, Welton and Bernadette; and his brother Danny Bertrand.
A celebration of life for Chuck will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Nomini Baptist Church with the Pastor Billy Howeth, II officiating. Chuck will be inurned in the Northern Neck Memorial Gardens in a private family ceremony.
