Charles "Chuck" Raymond Biggs, 80, of Sparta, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Chuck was born on November 4, 1942, in Winslow, Indiana, to the late Joe and Amie Fern Biggs.
Chuck is a graduate of Oakland City High School class of 1960. He was an Air Force Veteran retiring with the rank of Captain (Mustang) in 1983. He completed his bachelor's degree from the University of Evansville in 1972 and his master's degree from Michigan State in 1979. He was most proud of serving his country with assignments in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Indiana, Michigan, as well as Libya, Guam, Turkey, and who knows "the other top-secret places!".
After retiring from the Air Force, he became an entrepreneur and leader in the Private Sector. Chuck was part of a security company and part of a team that designed and installed the security systems for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, then he started a landscaping business in Charlotte, North Carolina.
After moving back from Indiana, he was the owner and operator of the Yellow Rose Ranch and Horse Stables in Pike County and also served as District 8 Representative for the NBHA. Chuck was proud of his individual accomplishments at NBHA events. During this same time, he taught at Oakland City University where he developed and lead the Criminal Justice program.
After the passing of his wife, Linda Biggs, he moved to the next phase. Motorcycles, recreational vehicles, boating, real estate, and a new love, Debbie Goines. Eventually moving to Sparta, Tennessee for the past 8 years.
Chuck was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Goines Biggs; daughter, Kelly Yarbrough (Greg); son, Scott Biggs (Emily); brothers, Joe (Martha) and Steve Sims; sisters, Deann Hunt, Debbie Miller (Rick), and Mary Gates; 5 grandchildren, Corey (Katie) and Luke Yarbrough, Izzy, Charlie, and Lila Biggs.
Chuck is preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Linda Biggs; parents, Joe and Amie Fern Biggs and Haskell Sims Jr.
A graveside service will be held at Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City, Indiana on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 11 AM with military honors from the Retired Veterans of Gibson County.
