Charles E. "Charlie" Burden, 78, passed away Friday, June 9th, 2023.
Charlie was a special person that touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all.
He was a 1966 graduate of The Kentucky School of Mortuary Science and worked in south Louisville as a Funeral Director with Joseph E. Ratterman & Son for over 50 years. He was a diligent and hard worker, dedicating his life to the profession he loved. He had a sharp memory and could remember every detail of families he had served.
Through the years, Charlie became a part of the Ratterman family; he attended every family gathering, holiday, and never missed a birthday. Though Charlie never had children of his own, he enjoyed spending time with his Ratterman "kids", whom he loved with all his heart.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Thomas and Ruby Burden.
Left to cherish Charlie's memory is his sister, Brinda Johnson; brother, Thomas Burden (Imogene); many cousins; his Ratterman family; colleagues in the funeral industry; and many friends.
Charlie's funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 19th, at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 747 Harrison Ave, Lousiville, KY 40217, with burial to follow in Deweese Cemetery, Pine Knob, KY. Visitation will be 2 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son, 7336 Southside Drive.
