CADY, CHARLES R. Jr. of Waterford passed away in his home on February 9, 2025 from heart failure after a hard fought battle with bladder cancer. He was 61.
In his youth, Chuck attended Williams Lake Church of the Nazarene. He graduated from Waterford Kettering High School in 1981. After a brief stint playing football in his freshman year, he decided watching the game was more his speed and spent every weekend glued to the tv to see his beloved Lions and the University of Michigan play.
Chuck had a reverence for music, treasuring tunes from Eagles, Pink Floyd, and Led Zepplin. One of the first of his circle to own a CD player, he would sit his children down to share the rapturous experience of listening to Queen and Elton John. As a cool, young dad, he bonded with his daughter's teachers over Soundgarden and Metallica.
Chuck took pleasure in keeping up with the times and owning the latest technology. He was excited when new gaming systems were released and spent many happy hours on his PlayStations over the years. Taking care of his prized possessions was incredibly important to him. If he could buy a case to protect something, you can be certain he owned it.
Passionate about cars since he first laid eyes on them, Chuck attended the Woodward Dream Cruise each year and collected Franklin Mint models of his favorite vehicles. He loved to drive and ultimately turned his appreciation for it into a long career as an over the road truck driver, traveling to all of the 48 contiguous states.
After retirement, Chuck enjoyed a quiet life. He appreciated taking photographs, snapping pictures of bald eagles in northern Michigan and of course photos of the coolest cars he stumbled upon. He lived vicariously through American Pickers and Pawn Stars and found comfort in classic television like Lost In Space.
Chuck's ability to find humor in anything will be sorely missed. He was always one to crack a joke and make people smile.
An animal lover through and through, Chuck delighted in cuddling with cute creatures whenever he could. He is now reunited with his cherished cat Dash, and his family requests any memorials be made to the Michigan Humane Society in his honor.
Chuck is preceded in death by his father Charles Sr. He will be forever loved and always remembered by his mother Jill; his daughters Amber and Kirsten; his siblings Diana Bak, Ericka (Ed) Glennie, Barbara (Marlon "Duke" McCallum), and Michael (Amber Moulton); his nephew Ethan Glennie; as well as his large extended family.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverside Chapel, Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, 5630 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
