Charles T. Cannatelli, 65, of
Frederica, DE passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 3, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Chuck was born on November 13, 1957 in
Wilmington, DE, son of the late Charles F. and Joyce R. Cannatelli. He grew up in Newark and graduated with the Class of 1976 from Christiana High School.
Chuck was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He and his son, Christopher, were proud owners and operators of Mid-Atlantic DryJect. He previously worked for DuPont, AT&T, and Spring Mobile. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed 35 years of outings with his best friend, Rhett. He was an enthusiastic Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan but he was the biggest supporter and fan of his own children and grandchildren's sports. He coached Smyrna-Clayton Little League and Pop-Warner football. He was an active member of the Milford Church of God, where he was a Congregational Care Minister, served on the Pastor's Advisory Team, and was a Leader of the greeters and parking team. Chuck also served the church in many other capacities. He always put his family first and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. His favorite Saturday morning routine was going to yard sales and breakfast at Waffle House with Jackie. He never turned down the opportunity to enjoy a meal at Mrs. Robino's or Cracker Barrel and never passed a WAWA for his 32oz fountain Diet Dr. Pepper, otherwise known as his "prescription"! He loved Christian and 70s music.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Jesse M. Fitzwater. Chuck is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jacquelyn Fitzwater Cannatelli, his son Christopher and his wife Jamie, and their two daughters, Camryn and Devyn, his son Matthew and his wife Krista, and their two sons, Leonardo and Broderick; sister, Sandie Newman and her husband David; mother-in-law Nelma DeHaven and her husband Bill; sister-in-law Deanna Sizemore and her husband Keith; brother-in-law Tim Fitzwater and his wife Rhonda; brother-in-law Mark Fitzwater; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sawhney, Dr. John and their staff from Bayhealth Medical and Radiation Oncology, along with the staff at Delaware Hospice for their compassionate care during his valiant battle against brain cancer.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 9th from 5-7pm at Milford Church of God, 500 N. Walnut Street,
Milford, DE 19963. A second viewing will be held on Saturday, June 10th at 11am with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 12noon at the church. Burial will follow at Barrett's Chapel Cemetery.
