Charles Carroll Obituary
Charlie Coy Carroll, 72, passed away on August 21, 2024. He was born in Hackensack, New Jersey to the late Nathan and India Carroll. He was also preceded in death by 5 of his siblings, Mary Carroll, Nancy Jane Carroll, Nathan Carroll, Jr., Rosalie Akridge and Robert Carroll, Sr.
Charlie lived in Hackensack, New Jersey for 69 years until he retired to Delaware in 2021. Charlie was baptized at an early age in the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Hackensack. He graduated from Hackensack High School in 1971. He worked at Springfield Instruments for 10 years before he began working at Sears and retired in 2006. Charlie loved all sports and professional wrestling. He grew up playing little league baseball and as an adult played softball for many years, sponsored by local businesses including his favorite establishment, the Charlmaree. He also coached his childrens' little league baseball and girls softball teams. His favorite sports teams were the Mets, the Jets, the Rangers, the Knicks and the University of Notre Dame. He especially loved his last years in Delaware, being close to family and going out to breakfast with his brothers. Above all, Charlie loved his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 38 years, Susan Carroll; his 2 children, Charlie Carroll, Jr. (Alisa Zipursky) and Chelsea Carroll; 1 grandchild, Jake Q Carroll; siblings, John Carroll (Savannah), Elizabeth Goodman (the late Alonzo Goodman), Claire Gibson, Anthony Carroll (Janette), Herbert Carroll, Walter Carroll (Willie Mae); as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Charlie left this world peacefully knowing your thoughts and prayers were all with him. He showed the love he had for you in his hugs and smiles. Each of you has a different story to remember and share of him as a loving dad, brother, uncle and friend. Please know that he loved each and every one of you.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at First Pilgrim Baptist Church, 27 S. Caesar Rodney Ave. Camden, DE 19934 at 2:30pm. The family will receive friends at 2:00pm and until 4:00pm once the service is complete.
