Charles E. "Skip" Chase, born January 19, 1938, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 87.
Skip was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 34 years, Connie, and a proud father to Anne (Kevin) Finn of Charlevoix, Chuck Chase of Kalamazoo, and Molly (Rob) Wagner of Kalamazoo. Skip was a cherished grandfather to Cory, Brooke, Danny, Tanner, Natalie, Lauren, and Leland, and a delighted great-grandfather to Bodie. He was also stepfather to Jeff (Dana) Kemp of Naperville, IL, Julie Kemp (Patrick) Hallinan of Winnetka, IL, and Sarah Kemp (Paul) Fullerton of Boston, MA, and grandfather to their children.
Skip was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and Western Michigan University. Skip resided in Kalamazoo until 2000, when he and Connie moved to Oro Valley, AZ. While in Kalamazoo, Skip was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and the YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo, where he served on the board of directors (1977-1984).
He was a dedicated member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Oro Valley, AZ, where he contributed his time, faith, and fellowship to the community he loved.
Known for his humor and his natural ability to make friends wherever he went, Skip brought joy and laughter to those around him. A lifelong golf enthusiast, his passion for the game reflected his love of camaraderie, competition, and the outdoors.
Skip will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, quick wit, and the steady presence he provided to all who knew him. His legacy lives on through his family, his friendships, and the countless lives he touched.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Tucson, AZ, with details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Skip's memory.
